Paradiso

1)     Relate what was discussed in class or the text to the screening.
In class we discussed the depth and complexity of the film. We went over the storyline and the passion that was written within the love story

2)    Find a related article and summarize the content.

I chose this article on content because it really breaks down and dives into what the film is about. I personally did not enjoy the film at first but when watching it again I got some more depth out of it. The love story was a bit disappointing and brought me to tears at the end of the film.

3)    Apply the article to the film screened in class.

The article seems to get very in depth into what this film was about. I personally enjoyed how it shows rich into history of the cinema. How people used to gather to watch film and how it would connect them back in the day. I wish that we could still experience that. It reminded me of when I was younger and my father would pick me and my sister up every other weekend when he had custody of us. We would go to the movies ALOT. We saw many films and connected with one another that way, through our dreams, hopes fears and wishes. I never saw it like that then but this film opened my eyes to that also. The fact that he falls in love and then is separated by family reasons and then has to join the military is almost familiar to the notebook, a current film. It is just very touching and emotional this film. I feel like this article hit everything and helped me to learn and see about it from a better perspective.

4)    Write a critical analysis of the film, including your personal opinion,  formed as a result of the screening, class discussions, text material and the article.

Cinema Paradiso is a rather melancholy film. You get to touch base with history of not just film and cinema but human interaction and growth through this art form. There are story's woven throughout the film just like each and every one of us experience in our own lives. It is very touching and offers a hint of something that I am sure most everyone can relate to. The editing style and the way they shots are, seem very inviting and puts you at the scenes front so that you can feel as if you are apart of each character in the film. The love story, the unfolding truth to life and love and growing up. This film is for a dreamer, a lover and of course for the fearful. I am amazed at the use and pull of emotion in this film. I did not expect to cry at the end but, there is almost noway that you can not. This film has a hypnotizing feeling on emotion and life reflection.
